Orphans' Future - Presentation at Wednesday Night Service (August, 2009)

Andriy Nazarenko is the founder and executive director of Orpahns' Future, a non-profit charitable foundation he organized to assist orphans from the Ternopil region of Ukraine. Andriy is one of the orphans that Pastor John Shep brought to America, in 1992, to provide them with a safe haven at the fall of the Soviet Union. Some of those orphans stayed here and were adopted. Others, like Andriy, returned to Ukraine. But, he has stayed in contact with his foster parents, in Burlington, and has visited several times since then.

Andriy started Orphans' Future in 2005 with the intent that the foundation would: improve orphans lives through providing opportunities to every individual; prevent problems orphans face after graduation (such as crime, suicide and prostitution); help orphans to become responsible, confident, self-sufficient and active members of their society; assist orphans to get quality education and an appropriate job relating to their skills; help orphans find a place to live and build their lives; and, encourage orphans to give back to others in need.

Our church has supported Andriy's Orhpans' Future with monetary donations from our Endowment Fund. Andriy was here visiting his foster parents and attended our Wednesday evening service on August 19th, with Pastor Shep and his foster parents, to provide us with a beter understaning of what Orphans' Future has accomplished and to personally thank our congregation for our support of this very important and impressive ministry. At the end of his presentation, he was presented with another donation and our well wishes and blessings!
